Character Design

 

After creating my character in ZBrush we used Maya to create the clothing, The characters clothes are an under shirt with a vest over the top, jeans, a hood face mask and glasses,

The under shirt was made long to protect from the harsh environment along with the face mask and hoot for more protection, the vest is made to help carry equipment, the thick glasses to help make to scientist directly inspired by Professor Farnsworth from Futurama.

 

Because this was my first time using ZBrush I used a basic body as a start point instead of starting from scratch, because my character is from an apocalyptic future and is a scientist i made him very thin to show his lack of athleticism and how its hard to find constant nutrition food to be healthy.

 
 
 

After finishing the clothing for the character the character was unwrapped onto a 2D plane so it could be texture in substance painter, The cloths were all texture using different materials to show how you need to make clothes out of any material you find in a post apocalyptic future

 

After the character had been textured and put back together it was moved back into Maya to do the animation for a running and idle animation,

 

Walk cycle Run Cycle and Idle animation

 
 

The running animation was made to show someone who is not athletic and not used to running so it was not going to be someone taking big powerful strides, it need to look a bit uncoordinated and unnatural, The idle animation was the character scratching his leg with his other foot and itching his help whilst tilting it.
