VR Museum using photogrammetry
For my university unit, Advanced Multi-Disciplinary Technologies, I planned to make a VR museum using photogrammetry, photogrammetry is using lots of photos of an object or an environment to create a 3D version.
The Environment I chose create was a room in the John Curtin Gallery at Curtin University, being at university made it easy to get access to and I chose this room because it had wall hanging art and a sculpture so I could create a 3D object and a room using photogrammetry
The programme I used to create the 3D model was MeshLab, i used mainly because it was free, I ended up taking 53 photos of the room I planned to recreate, the original plan was to do multiple rooms so I did not take a lot of photos of one room and as you can seen that result in a very patchy 3D model, this is also due to the walls being very dark and plain making it difficult for the program to stitch the photos together,
My First job was to take a lot of photos of the area i wanted create for the 3D museum, I chose the John Curtin Gallery at Curtin University, I chose this room because it had wall hanging art and a sculpture in it,
After the photogrammetry didn’t work I created a small room in Unity showing how I wanted the project to look, I used prefab models for the furniture because the priority was showing the idea for the project.
